Thursday morning Rachel and Momma met Rebecca, Desi and Brette at the zoo. While there we ran into Great Aunt Liz and some of her daycare kids. It was a relatively cool morning and we really enjoyed ourselves. (Momma hates being hot!) After the zoo we met up with Great Granny, Great Gpa Roy, Great Aunt Pam, and Mandy for lunch. It was a full morning. Rachel took a very long nap when we got home! :)
Rachel is really starting to get the hang on standing. Apparently the trick to balance is putting a sock in her mouth! :)
Tuesday afternoon we were able to go to Sonic for Happy Hour. We all shared lemon berry slushes! The kids were so cute!
Although we don't have this down pat, we are working on it! Rachel is becoming more and more brave as she lets go of things she pulls up on. August 11th is the first day she really did it any time before falling. She only stood 7 seconds, but it was way better then letting go and immediately falling! She is starting to actually try to balance and squat rather then "ker-plunking" down. Instead of being upset when she falls she pulls back up and tries again! The doctor told me to get her some shoes and that would probably help since she has a tendency to stand up on her toes. We got the shoes, she hates to wear them, but she is still trying to stand without them so I haven't made her wear them. Hopefully in a few weeks we will having standing down! :)
We have been giving Rachel actual table food for about the last month. (She also was switched from formula to Vitamin D milk this week! Way cheaper!)She seems to really like "junk food." Some things that she prefers happen to be...pizza, hot dogs, french fries, and ice cream! But her absolute favorite is Cheetos!!!! She loves to eat them, but then hates to clean up! When she was still eating baby food we were buying the Gerber lil crunchies. She loved these, but just like all "baby food" it was kinda expensive! $2.17 for a small can and she would eat almost half of the can in one setting! After going through 3 cans I decided to try one and see why she liked them so much! It tasted just like a regular chip except a little softer (easier to dissolve). That's when I decided to buy the real thing. She loves the real ones better and they are way cheaper! She sees me get them out of the cabinet and gets excited! She'd eat the whole bag if I'd let her! I guess it's a good thing she goes with me to the Y everyday! :)
Saturday night we went up to the hospital to meet Rachel's newest friend! It was so wonderful to finally meet HER! (Her mom and dad decided to wait to find out the gender until she arrived!) Momma will be babysitting Alexis during the day when her momma goes back to work. Rachel is looking forward to having a playmate every day! :)
