"The Final Result"
Rachel had her first doctor's appointment last Monday. She had lost down to 8lbs 4 oz, but was looking good. Her doctor is Dr.Jeff. Many of you remember back in March I posted a pic of Dr. Jeff and the positive test results...below is a pic of Dr. Jeff ad the "final result."

Rachel Elise Arrives!
Rachel Elise Skiles
November 13th, 2008
8lbs 14oz
20 3/4 inches long
Rachel was born at 6:34pm this evening. She is healthy and doing just perfect! Momma is a little sore, but is doing great! We were afraid we were going to have a c-section, but we were able to have a normal delivery! We can't believe she is actually here and is ours, but we could be more happy! She's perfect! Here are just a few pics. I will post more tomorrow!

The resident just checked Kayla; she is dialated to 9 and 100% effaced. We are very excited!

Feeling Much Better
Kayla had an epidural a little before 10:00. She is feeling much better since then and has been able to rest a little. The last time she was checked, she was dialated to 3-4.

Making Progress
Kayla stayed dialated to 1 all night. They started the pitocin this morning at 6:30. Then at 7:45 Kayla's water broke. They checked her right after that, and she was dialated to 1.5. Then at about 8:30, she was dialated to 3. She is doing great but starting to have a lot of pain with the contractions.

Update
Yesterday afternoon about 3:45 I got a call from my doctor's office. She said the hospital would not induce me before 39 weeks, without proof that her lungs were fully developed. As result, we had an amniocentesis done this morning at 8:00 and we waited 2 hours for results which said her lungs were fully developed! The started cytotech (sp?) at noon to start softening my cervix. We have not really progressed very far as of this writing and have had the second pill. We will have two more pills before they start pitocin (sp?), unless my labor begins before then. Until then........

Approaching the Finish Line!!
I am happy to say that I had my last Dr. Appt for this pregnancy today. I had a sonogram at 1:15pm today that showed Rachel was, as the tech said...ENORMOUS! Rachel's weight showed that she was 9lbs 7 oz already!!! (I am 37 weeks and 4 days) My original induction was scheduled for next Thursday (Nov. 20th) and it has now been moved up to tomorrow evening. I go in a 6:30pm to start the whole process, but pitocin (sp?) will not actually be started until Wednesday morning. I am glad to see the end is very near. I am glad I was pregnant and will be glad to have Rachel, but I will say I am not the person who has enjoy pregnancy, but it will all be over very soon. I can't wait to meet her! :)
Oh, and Aunt Krista wanted me to let everyone know she has finally made her prediction on when Rachel will come. She thinks it will be Wednesday, November 12th. hehe I have a feeling she is going to win the guessing game. :)
I guess the next post will probably be a post about her getting here. Please pray the labor and delivery goes well! :) Until then...

The Chair Story
So if any of you read Gma Oakley's comment on my last post she are probably wondering about "the chair." As many of you know, I am now staying home from work until Rachel gets here. I try to keep myself busy with "low stress" activities, so yesterday I decided to sit and the kitchen table and work on some uppercase living I had bought for Rachel's room. The chairs that are in my in-law's kitchen have rollers and they linoleum flooring. I stood up to more evenly place the saying on the tile and then went to sit back down...apparently I had scooted the chair out with my knees farther than I had realized. When I went to sit back down my butt only hit the very edge of the chair causing me to crash to the floor and the chair flipped over on top of me. My cell phone happened to fall on the floor as I grabbed for the table on my way down, so I called Gma Oakley, thinking I might get some sympathy...WRONG!! All she did was laugh. She laughed the whole time we were on the phone, although she made sure I was okay, but it made it even funnier to her when I was fine. I also might add a few minutes later I called Daddy while he was at lunch, I got the same response from him. ONLY LAUGHTER! These people must have no feelings for my butt! LOL! The only person who felt sorry for me was GGma! I guess she knows what it's like to fall off a chair!
But, all in all, me and my butt are just fine. :)
Hope everyone has a wonderful day! :)

Dr. Appointment
Went to the doctor again on Monday. She said everything is looking good. And she was "impressed" I was dilated to 1 at 36 weeks and 4 days! She now doesn't even think I am going to make it until the induction that is set for November 20th! I'm not sure I am going to make it a few more days! Contractions have been somewhat consistent since last night, but then they stop and the spread a little further and then get closer together...bla bla bla. I think Rachel is just teasing me. Gma Oakley keeps assuring me this is completely normal and I should stay home until I just can't stand it anymore. (remember this advice is coming from a women who has had 6 kids and stood the pain without an epidural with any of them expect 1 b/c she had to have a c-section! I think Gma thinks I am a weeny! :) She has been helpful and a good sport as I have texted/called her at 5:15am the past 2 mornings! She just keeps telling me to wait and go back to sleep. Some are worse then others, but I guess she knows what she is talking about. I don't trust anyone about this subject more then her! We'll wait it out. But hopefully the contractions will continue and Rachel will be here in the next few days, but who knows...I guess they could stop at any point and not come back for several! We will hope for the first scenario! :)
